Thầy Tỳ Kheo Với Con Ngỗng

Một Thầy Tỳ Kheo mang bình bát ghé một nhà giàu có để khất thực. Bà chủ nhà đang trò chuyện vô ý đánh rơi chiếc nhẫn xuống sàn nhà. Lúc đó có một con ngỗng đi qua và nuốt ngay chiếc nhẫn vào bụng. Khi bà chủ nhà phát hiện mất chiếc nhẫn liền nghi ngờ và tra hỏi Thầy Tỳ Kheo.
Thầy Tỳ Kheo vì lòng từ bi, sợ nếu nói sự thật ra thì bà chủ nhà sẽ mổ bụng con ngỗng để lấy lại chiếc nhẫn, nên Thầy đành im lặng cam chịu tiếng oan. Chủ nhà tức giận sai gia nhân trói Thầy lại và đánh đập dã man.
Máu từ người Thầy chảy ra, con ngỗng thấy vậy liền chạy đến liếm máu. Người nhà đang cơn tức giận lỡ tay vung gậy đánh chết con ngỗng. Thấy ngỗng đã chết, Thầy Tỳ Kheo rơi nước mắt xót thương và bảo bà chủ nhà hãy mổ bụng con ngỗng ra xem.
Người nhà mổ bụng ngỗng thì quả nhiên tìm thấy chiếc nhẫn. Cả nhà hối hận vô cùng, liền quỳ lạy xin Thầy tha tội. Lòng từ bi cứu vật và đức nhẫn nhục chịu hàm oan của Thầy Tỳ Kheo đã để lại một bài học vô cùng vĩ đại cho hậu thế.
The Monk And The Goose
A Bhikkhu (monk) carrying his alms bowl stopped at a wealthy house to beg for food. The lady of the house, while talking, accidentally dropped her ring on the floor. At that moment, a goose walked by and swallowed the ring. When the owner realized the ring was missing, she suspected and furiously questioned the monk.
Out of immense compassion, fearing that telling the truth would cause the owner to kill the goose to retrieve the ring, the monk remained silent and endured the false accusation. The angry owner ordered her servants to tie him up and beat him brutally.
Blood flowed from the monk's wounds, and the goose came over to lick it. In a fit of rage, one of the servants swung a stick and accidentally killed the goose. Seeing that the goose was dead, the monk shed tears and finally told the owner to cut open its stomach.
The owner opened the goose's stomach and indeed found her ring. The whole family was deeply regretful and knelt down to ask for the monk's forgiveness. The compassion to save a life and the patience of the monk left a shining example for generations to come.
